Nocturne for Piano and Orchestra
by Jett Hitt

In 1994, Jett Hitt completed a piano concerto. Even at the time, he knew that he would never allow the piece to be performed, but he had to finish it for a master's degree. Nocturne for Piano and Orchestra is the second movement of that concerto. It is remiscient of a 1980s movie soundtrack, and though the composer generally refers to it as kitsch, it has been well received by audiences everywhere since its premiere in 1996.
